Best of Island Views Two
Bicycle Day Commemorative Issue
This second issue of Island Views is dedicated to Albert Hofmann,
on the occasion of Bicycle Day: LSD’s Golden Anniversary. On April
16, 1943, Dr. Hofmann, a Swiss chemist now known to all of us,
accidentally dissevered the psychoactive effects of LSD, Three
days later, he intentionally ingested 250 micrograms of the compound,
and took his now famous bicycle ride home from his laboratory--the
world’s first LSD trip.
We are reprinting an account that Dr. Hofmann gave of his bicycle
ride, during a 1977 lecture at the University of California at Santa
Cruz. Also, Island Group will celebrate Bicycle Day with a two day
event on April 16-17, 1993 in Santa Cruz. We will have noted
speakers, music, art, a commemorative ritual and, of course,
a bicycle ride (see page ___ for details). Remember Bicycle
Day and keep it holy
